Indian Sandstone Patio in Bury
This project involved the complete transformation of a back garden patio area in Bury. The aim was to replace an old, tired concrete slab patio with a vibrant and natural-looking space using high-quality Autumn Brown Indian Sandstone, creating the perfect area for outdoor dining and relaxation.
Before
The original patio was constructed from dated, plain concrete paving slabs with a simple brick edge. Over time, it had become worn, uneven, and lacked character, failing to do justice to the garden space.
Removal & Preparation
The first step was to remove the old concrete slabs and brick edging. Once cleared, we excavated the area to the required depth to create a solid foundation for the new patio, ensuring correct levels for drainage.
Building a Solid Foundation
A robust sub-base of MOT Type 1 hardcore was laid and thoroughly compacted. This crucial step provides a stable and long-lasting foundation, preventing any future movement or sinking of the patio slabs.
Laying the Sandstone
With the foundations set, our team began expertly laying the Autumn Brown Indian Sandstone slabs on a full mortar bed. Each slab was carefully positioned to create a pleasing random pattern, ensuring consistent levels and joint widths throughout the patio and down the new side pathway. A classic brick paver was used to create a simple, effective border.
Finishing Touches
Once all the slabs were in place, the joints were pointed with a high-quality jointing compound. This not only secures the slabs but also complements the natural stone and helps to prevent weed growth. The final step was a thorough clean-down, leaving the patio pristine and ready for the homeowners to enjoy.
Conclusion
This project in Bury successfully transformed an uninspiring space into a beautiful and functional outdoor living area. The natural beauty and warm tones of the Autumn Brown Indian Sandstone have added character, value, and a timeless appeal to the property. The result is a durable, high-quality patio that will be enjoyed for many summers to come.
