Kandla Grey Porcelain Patio & Garden Transformation in Burnley

This was a comprehensive garden makeover project in Burnley, designed to turn a tired, patchy lawn into a super-sleek, modern, and highly functional outdoor space. The key objective was to combine a high-end patio with a lush new lawn, underpinned by a professional drainage system to handle the British weather.

Before

The garden was in need of a major overhaul. The existing lawn was patchy and uneven, with a small, basic concrete path that offered little in terms of style or usability. The space had huge potential but was far from being an inviting area.

Site Clearance & Excavation

The first step was to completely clear the garden. We stripped away the old turf and excavated the entire area to the necessary depths for both the new patio foundation and the new lawn, creating a clean canvas to work from.

Installing a New Soakaway Drainage System

A crucial element of this project was ensuring the garden could handle rainfall effectively. We installed a new soakaway crate drainage system. This modern solution sits below ground, collecting excess water and allowing it to dissipate naturally into the soil, preventing any future waterlogging on the patio or lawn.

Laying the Patio & Border

With a solid hardcore foundation in place, our team expertly began laying the large 600mm x 900mm Kandla grey porcelain slabs on a full mortar bed. Porcelain requires precision, and every slab was perfectly levelled to create a seamless, flat surface. At the same time, we installed a crisp charcoal block paver border to frame the new lawn area.

Laying the New Turf

The final stage was to bring the green back. We prepared the lawn area with high-quality topsoil before laying fresh, premium turf. The new lawn, framed by the charcoal border, provides the perfect soft contrast to the modern porcelain.
