Tarmac Driveway with Block Paved Border in Padiham
This project in Padiham was a complete front-of-house transformation. The aim was to replace a series of tired, disjointed concrete paths and a front lawn with a single, expansive, and stylish tarmac driveway, framed with a creative and eye-catching block paved border.
Before
The property’s frontage consisted of narrow concrete slab pathways and a garden area. This layout was impractical for modern parking needs and lacked any real kerb appeal, making the front of the house look dated and disconnected.
Full Site Clearance
The first job was to bring in the mini digger to break up and remove all the old concrete paths and dig out the existing lawn and shrubs. This opened up the entire area, giving us a blank canvas to create the new, larger driveway footprint.
Edging & Foundation
With the site cleared, we meticulously laid the new block paved border. The beautiful S-curve design was carefully set out and laid on a concrete bed to provide a robust and permanent edge. Following this, we laid and compacted a thick MOT Type 1 sub-base to create a solid foundation for the new tarmac.
Tarmac Surfacing
Once the foundations and borders were in place, it was time for the tarmac. A hot layer of quality tarmac was laid across the entire area and raked to the correct levels. It was then compacted with a heavy roller to create a smooth, hard-wearing, and uniform finish.
Finishing Touches
To complete the look and provide seamless access to the house, we constructed a brand new doorstep using the same contrasting block pavers from the border. This detail ties the whole design together perfectly.
