Garden Makeover with Artificial Lawn in Colne
This project was a complete garden transformation designed to create a modern, stylish, and low maintenance outdoor space. The original garden consisted of a sloping, patchy lawn that was difficult to maintain and visually unappealing. The goal was to create a clean, usable area combining the existing patio with a pristine artificial lawn.
Before
The garden featured an uneven, sloping lawn that was patchy and difficult to use. It sloped down towards the existing Indian Sandstone patio, creating an awkward and undefined space that lacked functionality and style.
Site Excavation & Levelling
The project began with the complete removal of the old turf and soil. The entire area was excavated and levelled to create two distinct tiers, eliminating the original awkward slope.
Wooden Sleeper Retainers
New tanalised wooden sleepers were installed to create a robust retaining edge for the new lawn areas. These sleepers serve as a structural retainer and a stylish, rustic border that defines the different levels of the garden.
Sub-Base Preparation
A solid foundation was created for the artificial grass. This involved installing and compacting a layer of MOT Type 1 hardcore, followed by a layer of grano dust which was screeded perfectly smooth to ensure a flawless finish.
Artificial Grass Installation
A premium, high-quality artificial grass was laid across the newly prepared areas. The grass was carefully cut to shape and secured around the perimeter, creating the look and feel of a perfect, freshly mown lawn without any of the maintenance.

The result is a spectacular, low maintenance garden that is both beautiful and highly functional. The combination of the warm Indian sandstone patio, the rustic wooden sleepers, and the vibrant green artificial lawn creates a clean, modern aesthetic.
