At Stone Made Drives Ltd, we love a good transformation story, and this project in Rochdale is a fantastic example of turning an unloved outdoor space into a stunning, contemporary oasis. Our mission was to create a beautiful and functional patio using Kindle Grey Porcelain, complete with elegant steps and striking jet black grouting.

As you can see from some of the initial images, this garden was ready for a significant upgrade. The existing patio was tired and uneven, and the steps leading down presented a design challenge that needed a fresh approach. Our team started by carefully clearing the old surfaces, preparing the groundwork for a truly remarkable transformation. This involved removing the existing paving and steps, ensuring a clean slate for the new design

Building the Foundation for Beauty

With the old materials removed, the next crucial step was to lay a robust and stable sub-base. This is the unseen hero of any lasting patio. We meticulously prepared the ground, ensuring proper drainage and a solid foundation that would support the beautiful porcelain tiles for years to come. You can see the groundwork taking shape, with the aggregates laid, promising a firm base for the new patio. The existing brickwork walls and steps were integrated into the design, providing a solid structure for the new porcelain treads.

Kindle Grey Takes Centre Stage

Then came the exciting part: installing the exquisite Kindle Grey Porcelain tiles. Chosen for its sophisticated contemporary look and exceptional durability, this porcelain creates a sleek and expansive feel. Our skilled craftsmen meticulously laid each tile, ensuring perfect alignment and levels across the entire patio area. The result is a smooth, elegant surface that perfectly complements the surrounding architecture.

Elegant Steps and Striking Grouting

A key feature of this Rochdale project was the integration of stylish steps. We carefully designed and installed these steps, ensuring they are not only functional but also seamlessly blend with the new patio. The individual step treads were also finished with Kindle Grey Porcelain, providing a cohesive look.

To truly make the porcelain “pop” and define the clean lines of the design, we used jet black grouting. This striking contrast highlights the modern aesthetic of the Kindle Grey tiles, adding a sophisticated finish that truly elevates the entire space. You can clearly see the impact of this dark grouting, defining each tile and adding a crisp, contemporary edge. The existing metal railings were retained, providing a sturdy and familiar touch to the newly renovated steps.
