Project Overview – Block Paved Driveway Installation in Blackburn

We recently completed a full block paved driveway replacement at a residential property in Blackburn. The original driveway had become tired and uneven, so the client opted for a fresh, modern look with a durable block paving finish.

Before and After Comparison

Before:

• The original driveway was made up of aged and discoloured paving that had become uneven and lacked structure. The layout no longer suited the space or reflected the quality of the home.

After:

• The new block paved driveway features a crisp herringbone design with contrasting borders, a newly built doorstep, and a clean finish that dramatically improves both functionality and first impressions. A stunning upgrade that will stand the test of time.

Construction Stages

1. Excavation & Removal:
   • The old driveway surface was lifted using a mini digger, and all waste material was cleared from the site. We also removed the edging and prepared the area for a wider layout.
2. Ground Preparation:
   • A solid sub-base was installed using type 1 MOT hardcore, compacted to ensure long-term stability. Weed membrane was laid to suppress any future growth and maintain the integrity of the new surface.
3. Step Formation & Edge Restraints:
   • A new block-built doorstep was constructed using charcoal blocks for a clean, solid entryway. Matching kerb edging was installed around the boundary to provide a neat, defined edge to the driveway.
4. Block Paving Installation:
   • We laid the blocks in a herringbone pattern with a contrasting double border, giving the driveway a bold, attractive finish. The colour combination and layout were chosen to complement the style of the house and enhance kerb appeal.
