Double Tarmac and Driveway Project in Nelson

What are some of the reasons why an asphalt driveway will need to be resurfaced from time to time? Two common answers include visual appeal and the stability of the materials themselves. The good news is that replacing asphalt driveways is a rather straightforward project when dealing with the team at Stone Made Drives. We were recently contacted by a customer in Nelson who asked us to evaluate the state of an existing tarmac driveway. After a thorough examination, it was decided that a replacement was in order.

Preparation

Similar to any other type of renovation performed by our team, we place a great deal of emphasis upon the preparatory stages. In this case, we were required to first remove the existing damaged asphalt. This provided us with a clean foundation. We also levelled and compacted this subsurface; a key step to ensure that there are no issues with the subsequent layers of asphalt.

The Application of New Asphalt

As this was a double driveway (serving two homes), we coated one side at a time. Both surfaces were then blended together with the help of a small roller-compactor which provided ample amounts of pressure. The end result was a n asphalt driveway that seamlessly joined the two properties together. The uniformity of this surface also added a bespoke sense of kerb appeal to the homes themselves.

Why Choose This Material?

There are actually several reasons why property owners may opt for an asphalt driveway. Here are some of the most notable:

  • Asphalt is relatively easy to apply.
  • Most projects can be completed quickly; offering additional cost-effective advantages.
  • Asphalt will last for an impressive period of time.
  • Low maintenance costs.

Of course, it is always better to leave such tasks to the professionals. Were you impressed with the outcome of this project?
