Project Overview – Indian Sandstone Patio with Steps & Cobble Driveway Restoration
We recently completed this stunning stone patio and cobble driveway restoration project at a beautiful home in Rochdale. The homeowner reached out to us looking for a full transformation of their outdoor space, as the existing patio and driveway had become tired, weathered and uneven over the years. The goal was to breathe new life into the area while keeping the charm and character of the original features.

Construction Stages

Excavation & Ground Preparation

We started by excavating the existing area to the required depths across all levels of the garden. This included clearing away old materials, levelling the ground, and installing a solid MOT Type 1 sub-base to ensure long-term stability and drainage.

Brickwork & Retaining Walls

Curved brick walls were then carefully constructed to separate the different levels of the garden. These walls not only created structure and definition, but added a classic, high-end feel to the garden space.

Step Construction
- We built wide, spacious steps using matching brick risers and Indian sandstone treads. These steps seamlessly link the upper lawn area with the new patio space, improving access and flow throughout the garden.

Premium Indian sandstone slabs in mixed sizes and tones were installed throughout the patio area. The mixed size layout provided an eye-catching finish while working perfectly with the natural tones of the surroundings.

- Lifting and Re-Laying
- We lifted and relaid sections of the driveway where dips and movement had occurred, this ensured a level, even surface with improved drainage. Every granite sett was meticulously reinstalled to preserve the original charm.
