We recently completed the transformation of a tired, uneven driveway at this property in Blackburn, replacing it with a stunning new Tegula paved finish. The original driveway was heavily worn and had become patchy and unsightly, prompting the homeowner to opt for a complete redesign.

Before:

• The old driveway had become weathered and sunken over time, with uneven surfaces and visible wear, offering poor kerb appeal and limited practicality.

After:

• The new tegula paved driveway offers a sophisticated, uniform finish with a clean border design and a welcoming new step. The entire frontage now looks refreshed, with improved functionality and visual appeal that complements the property beautifully.

Construction Stages

1. Driveway Excavation & Removal:
   • We began by lifting and removing the old block paving, clearing the area completely to create a fresh base for the new installation. The ground was excavated to the correct depth to accommodate the new materials.
2. Sub-Base Installation:
   • A robust foundation was established using compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base, ensuring the new driveway would be structurally sound and long-lasting.
3. Weed Membrane & Edge Restraints:
   • A high-quality weed control membrane was laid to prevent future growth beneath the surface. Treated timber edging was then installed along the boundaries to maintain shape and definition throughout the driveway.
4. Sand Screeding & Levelling:
   • A layer of sharp sand was evenly spread and screeded to the appropriate levels. This provided a smooth well-drained surface ready for block paving.
5. Block Paving Installation:
   • We laid the new tegula block paving in a traditional pattern, finishing it with a contrasting silver-grey kerb border for a refined, eye-catching finish.
6. Step Build & Finishing Touches:
   • To complete the entrance, we built a smart two-tier front doorstep using matching block materials. The surface was then jointed with kiln-dried sand and compacted to lock the blocks securely in place.
